12th Annual Native Art Auction and Dinner Fundraiser Nov. 5
The South Puget Intertribal Planning Agency’s 12th annual Native American Art Auction and Dinner will help the agency deliver human services, resource development, training and technical support to five Native communities.
“Our goal this year is to raise $75,000,” said Vernell Lane, the agency’s resource development manager. “A volunteer committee, donors and artist contributions have helped make SPIPA’s annual art auction a huge success.”
The auction is Nov. 5 at the Lucky Eagle Casino Event Center in Rochester, Washington. Actress and comedian Elaine Miles (“Smoke Signals,” “Northern Exposure”) will be mistress of ceremonies. Actor, storyteller and violinist Swil Kanim (“The Business of Fancydancing”) will perform at the evening dinner.
Twenty-five percent of proceeds raised are passed on to Chehalis, Nisqually, Shoalwater Bay, Skokomish and Squaxin Island for their youth and elder programs. Seventy-five percent is placed in an endowment to fund future tribal needs and programs.
