Arctic Cod Possibly Endangered

Canada’s Arctic cod may be listed this year as a “species of special concern,” according to the Nunatsiaq News. The landlocked fish exists in only three lakes on Baffin Island, and these are environmentally sensitive waters. Such a designation would restrict recreational fishing of these animals, the newspaper said. Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) will seek public comment on the matter until Feb 11.
