Bad River Band Elects Vice Chairman, Secretary and Junior Council Member
On November 7, the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Tribe of Chippewa Indians, posted its official tribal election results for the offices of vice chairman, secretary, and junior council member.
The elections that were held on November 6 had 657 voters participating according to the Wisconsin tribe’s website. According to the tribe’s history there are more than 7,000 members, with about 1,500 living on the reservation.
The outcome of the races saw Eldred Corbine win the seat of the vice chairman with 353 votes; RaeAnne Maday win the seat of secretary with 289 votes; and Dawn O’connor named junior council member with 371 votes.
Also on the ballot was a referendum vote on the use of money held by the tribe. Voters chose to save the money and grow the interest with 212 votes.
