Cherokee Nation Color Guard Receives $5,000
The Cherokee Nation Color Guard recently received a $5,000 check presented by Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Chad Smith during a brief ceremony.
The check was on behalf of the Cherokee Nation and Juan Rodriguez, vice president of the color guard, said the money would go to help pay for travel expenses.
The color guard is a volunteer group consisting of American Indians who are veterans of the United States Armed Forces and a tribute to the Cherokee tradition of military service. The color guard acts as cultural ambassadors and travel throughout the country to attend public events.
