Chukchansi Confrontation Turns Violent
A two-day standoff that started February 27 between two Chukchansi Indian factions ended in a scuffle that left two people injured.
According to an Associated Press article Madera County Sheriff John Anderson stepped in, threatening arrests before the violence became out of control.
The AP article states the two factions have agreed to stay away for 48 hours to give the Bureau of Indian Affairs time to intervene. Before the standoff, the BIA stated it was an intra-tribal issue and the BIA would stay out of it.
