The Pomo Indians in Northern California have already installed gasoline storage tanks for a planned gas station on its two-acre site across from the tribe's Robinson Rancheria Resort & Casino. But Lake County officials are objecting to the gas station on an area designated to return to wetlands, reported The San Francisco Chronicle.

County officials contest Pomo Indians have not revealed how emissions will be monitored. Possibly the county's greater concern is that the station will hedge an unfair advantage over competing gas stations, because it is not subject to state and local permits. Operating on the sovereign land only requires federal regulation.
