Columbus Day: Images of Protest
In a couple other features that we've posted today—"Columbus Day: The E-Cards" and "Columbus Day: The Cartoons"—we've brought you images that seek to make their point about the legacy of Columbus with humor, or at least sarcasm. Here we've collected a few that take a firmer stand: Statements of fact, defiant t-shirt slogans, memorable quotes, and photographs from protests.
(And yes, a few that just weren't cartoons or e-cards. The things you find on the internet don't always fall into the categories you'd like.)
Sensing a little... anger here? That's the point.
Most of these images were found on Tumblr, and we've linked to the source posts when possible. And we’ll take this opportunity to point out that we, ICTMN, are on Tumblr ourselves—give us a follow at indiancountry.tumblr.com.
This from God, food for thought
"They came with a Bible and their religion, stole our land, crushed our spirit…. and now they tell us that we should be grateful to the "Savior" for having saved us."
--Chief Pontiac
