Four Republicans Vying for Gabrielle Giffords’ Seat

In a special primary being held in Arizona today, Jesse Kelly, a construction project manager and Iraq War veteran, is among four candidates facing off to represent the Republican Party to fill the seat formerly held by Gabrielle Giffords according to a Reuters article, via the Huffington Post.

Kelly, narrowly lost to Giffords in 2010, which was Giffords final election to Congress before the former Arizona Representative decided to step down following an assassination attempt on January 8, 2011.

Representing the Democratic Party is Ron Barber, Giffords’ former aide who was also wounded in the assassination attempt. Barber is running unopposed according to Reuters.
