Inuit Fashion Online
Inuit chic, anyone?
Nunavik Creations, a fashion line of goods made and sold by Inuit people, is preparing a new, exciting line of products to debut when its Web site re-launches early this year, the Nunatsiaq News reports.
Although the Nunavik Creations boutique in Kuujjuaq has sold to fashion seekers in Nunavik and southern Canada since 2001, the subsidiary of Makivik Corp. is set to branch out.
The company is making its line more contemporary to appeal to southern Canadians, Montreal workshop manager Vera Greening told the paper, with promised products ranging from sheer beaver-lined aviator hats to leather laptop bags. Nunavik Creations’ classic items, like its sealskin mittens, slippers and sealskin men’s vests continue to sell well.
The site is currently down while it gets revamped, although the company’s business was still going at a fast clip through the holidays.
Greening tells the News “that a new, user-friendly site will launch in early 2011, offering customers north and south a selection of nouveau-Inuit style.”
