Eastern Washington University and the College of Science, Health & Engineering invite applications for a tenure track position in the Department of Dental Hygiene to begin September 2013.
The Department of Dental Hygiene is housed in a state-of-the-art facility located at Eastern's Riverpoint Campus in Spokane, WA. The department offers the only BS in Dental Hygiene in the state of Washington, an entirely web-based MS in dental hygiene, and has three-degree completion programs around the state.
Eastern is a regional, comprehensive university that expects all faculty to demonstrate teaching excellence, professional growth, and service to the university, profession, and the community. Responsibilities will include teaching and curriculum development at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and active participation in scholarly and service activities.
Eastern is co-located on two campuses, Riverpoint in Spokane (home for our health sciences programs and our College of Business & Public Administration) in addition to our main campus in Cheney (20 minutes from Riverpoint), as well as additional teaching/learning centers located in other cities throughout Washington State. The Cheney-Spokane area is the heart of the Inland Northwest, with excellent restaurants, theater, shopping, skiing, hiking, lakes, a choice of living in a medium-sized city or a small town, and high quality schools and housing. Enrollment has reached over 12,000 students.

o MS in Dental hygiene, or closely related discipline, must be conferred not later than the date of appointment (9/15/2013);
o Washington State Dental Hygiene licensure or ability to obtain licensure by date of appointment (9/15/2013);
o Minimum of two years of full-time clinical experience within the past five years (part time experience will qualify, but will be pro-rated to its full time equivalency);
o Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching; preference may be given to candidates who offer two or more years teaching experience at the college level;
o Demonstrated potential for scholarship as evidenced by at least one publication in a peer reviewed journal and/or presentation at a regional or national conference;
o Demonstrated high degree of interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency and/or diversity;
Preference may be given to candidates who offer one or more of the following:
o Earned doctoral degree;
o Prior experience chairing thesis committees and supervising graduate research;
o Prior experience in web-based education and web-based curriculum design.
