Craving a good Powwow to include in your weekend plans?
Frankly, we at Indian Country Today Media Network can’t get enough! So we’ve put a list together of great powwow’s happening all over the country this weekend just for you. If one of these are in your area, head on over and enjoy some thrilling dances, lively musical performances, and, of course, delicious traditional foods.
3rd Annual MAAIC Valentine Benefit Powwow, Kansas
When & Where: February 11th at the Mid-America All-Indian Center in Wichita, Kansas.
The Mid-America All-Indian Center will be accepting donations to help fund their 2012 American Indian Festival held in mid-July. This powwow will include intertribal dances, authentic Native American arts, crafts, and foods, as well as audience participation dances. So be sure to have your dancing shoes on and be there by 1pm! 1st Annual Bay Area American Indian Two-Spirits Pow-Wow, California
When & Where: February 11th at the LGBT Center in San Francisco, California.
Saturday’s festivities will begin at 11am and end at 6pm. The Bay Area American Indian Two-Spirits invites all to join them and enjoy the powwow’s raffles, Indian market, and traditional Indian tacos. For more information about this event, click here.

22nd Annual World Championship Hoop Dance Contest, Arizona
When & Where: February 11th – 12th at the Heard Museum in Phoenix, Arizona
According to their website, the World Championship Hoop Dance Contest is “one of Indian Country’s most unique sports.” Audiences will be thrilled watching “the dazzling performances of the men and women who compete to earn the title of World Champion Hoop Dancer.” Dancers will compete for prizes ranging from $75 - $3,500. Wigwam Festival, Arizona
When & Where: February 10th – 12th at the Wigwam Resort in Litchfield Park, Arizona.
Beginning Friday at 10am, this weekend event will be filled with great entertainment. Wigwam festival entertainment will include performances by Flutist/Violinist, Arvel Bird, Yellow Bird Dancers, and four-time world teen hoop dancer champion, Tony Duncan. As well as incredible entertainment, this powwow will be showcases award-winning Native American art exhibits. For more information about this event, click here.

14th Annual Cherish the Children Traditional Pow Wow, Minnesota
When & Where: February 11th -12th at the Central High School in St. Paul, Minnesota
Gates will open at 10:30am each day for this weekend event. There will be two grand entries on Saturday at 12pm and 6pm and one on Sunday at 1pm. Registration begins at 11 am each day. For more information about this event, click here.
16th Annual Wildhorse Pow-Wow, California
When & Where: February 11th - 12th in Lawndale, California
This weekend event will begin at 11am each day with loads of Native American dancing, drumming, and singing. Powwow attendees will also find authentic Native American arts, crafts, and traditional foods. Your host drum will be the Mt. Adams Lake Singers. For more information about this event, click here.
