Pro Skater Ryan Sheckler Building Skate Park for Port Gamble K'Lallam

December 15, 2012
Professional skateboarder Ryan Sheckler's Sheckler Foundation was looking for a place to do good and found it on the Kitsap Peninsula in Washington state.
In the spring, the Sheckler Foundation held a competition in the spring to choose a project for its Be the Change initiative, and the winner, by popular vote, was the Port Gamble S'Klallam Tribe. The Foundation will construct a skate park, proposed by young people of the tribe, on tribal land. A page at the Sheckler Foundation website lists needed resources, which include:
• Lumber
• Excavating services
• Concrete
• And, of course, volunteers.
Sheckler Foundation/Be the Change has posted numerous photos from the project on its blog and released its first video report on YouTube:
