Denver Indian Center Voting Booth
Ready to Vote Bright and Early at Denver Indian Center

Just before 7 a.m., a line formed inside the door at Denver Indian Center, where voters got some protection against a chilly morning and asked each other if they were at the right place, joked about the then-sparse turnout or just looked hopefully at the gym, where voting booths had been set up about 6 a.m. Poll watchers and other volunteers hustled to set up chairs and tables, and wondered how late they’d be there. Aside from the identical white booths, there were the usual accompaniments to voting day—stacks of paper and lots of coffee—all the necessities for a long day that might go into late night.
