Mark Ranzenberger of the The Morning Sun reports that the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe has announced that they will formally break ground for their new Soaring Eagle Water Park & Hotel next Monday in central Michigan.

Ranzenberger reports that construction is expected to take 14 to 16 months.  The plans call for a 45,000-square-foot water park and a 243 guest rooms.  The park and hotel are to be built at the interchange of U.S. 127 and M-20 in Union Township.

The park and hotel were designed by Thalden Boyd Emery, a Native-owned firm out of St. Louis, MO.  The rustic contemporary feel will include water designs, earth tones, Native regalia, and a 'botanical' feel to the guest rooms.  There's also a restaurant with "nature themes and seating for 134 indoors plus 72 outdoors" planned.
