San Juan County, Utah and Navajo Nation Tensions Continue

The tensions between San Juan County, Utah and the Navajo Nation continued recently when the county denied Navajo Human Rights members access to all public records of the San Juan County commissioners meeting.
According to an article in The Navajo Post Norman Johnson, San Juan County clerk, told Leonard Gorman, Navajo Human Rights executive director, and Lauren Bernally-Long, policy analyst, that the county’s attorneys needed to assess the recordings before they could be released. The withholding of public records is a violation of Utah’s Government Records Access and Management Act.
