Seneca Golf Course Ranked Sixth In U.S.
Golf Magazine's list of best new public courses in the United States included but one from the great state of New York; the Seneca Hickory Stick Golf Course in Niagara County. Designed by Robert Trent Jones II, Seneca Hickory Stick is a 257-acre, 7,026 yard course spread out through a mature hickory forest. It includes an epic, 620-yard par 5 at the 11th hole, is surrounded by lakes and ponds, wetlands and open meadows, and is just 10 miles from Niagara Falls.
Owned by the Seneca Nation, Hickory Stick wowed Golf Magazine with difficult, well constructed holes amid a landscape that doesn't have "anything remotely artificial." It doesn't hurt that the course is public and greens fees are a managable $55 to $85.
