Seneca Nation and County Hold Historic Meeting
On March 9, Robert Odawi Porter, Seneca Nation president and members of the Nation’s council treated the county legislatures to a traditional Seneca dinner with Seneca dancers for entertainment.
An invitation from Porter to Legislature Chairman Michael O’Brien said it was to be an evening of “sharing thoughts” and “lively discussion.”
“I believe we have much in common as representatives challenged with the task of creating jobs and improving the quality of life for our constituents here in Western New York,” Porter wrote in his invitation to O’Brien.
In attendance were 21 legislators representing Olean, Portville, Salamanca, Franklinville, Little Valley and Ellicottville, among others, eight councilors from each territory of the Nation, along with Diane Kennedy Murth, Nation clerk.
