Suquamish Tribe Approves Same-Sex Marriages

In a move Monday, the Suquamish Tribal Council changed its ordinances to extend marriage rights to same-sex couples.

According to the Kitsap Sun, the new ordinance means gay couples are afforded all the rights heterosexual couples are allowed on the reservation and other places in which gay marriages are allowed.

Heather Purser, a 28-year-old, who has been pushing for the change in the tribe’s law for the past four years, has finally seen it come to fruition.
