The United Auburn Indian Community, which owns and operates Thunder Valley Casino, have pledged $1 million to keep the Kings in Sacramento, the tribe told The Sacramento Bee.
Mayor Kevin Johnson is spearheading the effort to raise $7 million from businesses in the Sacramento region to demonstrate that the area can support an NBA franchise, reported the Bee. The Kings are considering relocating to Anaheim.
Johnson presented his case at Thuner Valley Casino on April 19, and tribal leaders were moved and decided to invest $1 million. "The tribe thought this is a great opportunity," Elmets told the Bee.
