Led by Piri Weepu, Maori, the All Blacks, New Zealand’s indomitable national rugby squad, performed this rousing haka prior to their August 25 championship match against Australia’s Qantas Wallabies. All Blacks traditionally perform a haka, a challenge to their opponents steeped in Maori tradition, before matches. On the line this game was the Bledisloe Cup, awarded to the winner of arguably the greatest sporting rivalry in the world: All Blacks versus Qantas Wallabies.
The power and the passion of this performance have some fans calling it the greatest ever. It certainly seemed to rattle the mighty Aussies, as All Blacks crushed the Wallabies 22-0 that day. Watch the video and perhaps you too will feel your spine tingling.
