Video: Young Singer's Beautiful Voice Carries the U.S. National Anthem in Navajo

On December 21, 2008, Mariah Robbins sang the U.S. National Anthem in Navajo at a  Native American Celebration Day, honoring vets. What distinguishes this is not only that it is in Navajo, a language that turned the tide in the Pacific because of the Code Talkers in World War II, but the pure beauty of her voice. On a weekend when we honor and celebrate Veterans, especially Native American Vets and the Marine Corps (237 today!), it's a lovely tribute. We at ICTMN welcome your comments about Veterans Day and Native American Heritage Month, celebrated all this month.

Sad. Just shows the extent to which we have been colonized and brainwashed.

I don't understand why the UNITED STATES national anthem is being sung in the Navajo language. Very sad. We should be singing our own songs.
