Water Rights Compact Signing Between the Crow Tribe and Montana Today

The U.S. Department of the Interior announced it will be holding a signing ceremony of a Crow Tribe-Montana Water Rights Compact today at 1 p.m. in Washington, D.C.

According to a release from the Interior, Ken Salazar, Secretary of the Interior, will join Brian Schweitzer, Montana Governor, and Cedric Black Eagle, Crow Tribe Chairman.

The release states, “the compact seeks to resolve more than three decades of controversy, ensure safe drinking water for the reservation, and provide for the rehabilitation of the Crow Irrigation Project.”
