Presidential Debates 2012: Memes We'd Like to See

ICTMN Staff
10/19/12

When Mitt Romney told his anecdote about "binders full of women" during Tuesday's Presidential debate, the awkward phrase struck a chord with viewers. On the internet, everyone's a comedian—or thinks they are—and, as CNN reported, the internet "went wild" over the remark. Silly images of Mitt Romney and binders flooded Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook pages and blogs.

We hoped a Native take on the subject would show up on our radar, and when one didn't we were a little disappointed. For better or worse, virally-spread jokes are just about the best way to make yourself heard amid the cacophony of the internet. We thought we'd get the ball rolling, and we hope some of you out there in Indian country might be inspired to play along.

Here are a few Indian-themed images we whipped up using the "Unimpressed American Indian" template at quickmeme.com, a site that enables anyone to put their own spin on an existing meme or create a new one from scratch. We expanded our scope to include not just "binders full of women" but also President Obama's poorly-worded "you didn't build that" remark and Romney's much-repeated quote about 47% of Americans feeling "entitled to health care, to food, to housing."

You may want to bookmark that quickmeme.com link—the final debate is Monday night, and you never know what these guys will say.

Funny, the accusations are just applicable to Barack Obama and Co. considering his children go to private school as well. FOR this article to blame and demise to traditional indians to one side is entirely false and untrue. Than to report news based on facts, this article only attempts to stir biased accusations. Thsi is the problem with 'mainstream' media today and isn't entirely accurate.

why not challenge Tribal GOvernment authority in throught out the country for lack of tribal resources to tribal people than to wait for handout under Obama OR be upset over no handouts under Romney? Countless millions federal dollars are going someplace than people or the federal dollars are being returned unused by tribal governments. Indian country can't continue to rely or blame federal government IF the federal government is already giving allocations that isn't being spent by tribal officials.
