Walk for Wolves This Weekend

The Walk for Wolves: Howling in One United Voice to Protect All Wolf Species has been organized to raise awareness about the threats affecting the wolf population throughout the United States. In addition to losing their habitat, the most detrimental threats come from government bills allowing hunting and trapping an indiscriminate number of wolves by methods such as shooting, trapping and snaring where the latter two are considered inhumane. Illegal hunting and trapping has also caused a high mortality in wolves and hatred driven wolf groups have been known to use brutal killing methods such as shooting wolves in the abdomen (gut-shot) and poisoning to name a few.

The masses need to know, our government needs to listen so we can proactively change current legislation and offer protection to these species. Coexisting through adaption is the key to success in this matter. Join as an organizer or as a participant and howl on Friday, April 26, and/or Saturday, April 27, in a 3-mile walk near your city.

This is cruel and the government needs to rethink what is happening to these wolves. They shouldn't have to suffer from cruel hunters.

I've often wondered....why do those that fear and hate the wolf so, feel so superior? We are the only species that hunts and kills, just for the "pure joy of killing".

The Michigan politicians do not have the right to go against the will of the voters who have already indicated their desire to protect the wolves. The politicians appear to be arbitrarily deciding what they want to act on, and what to ignore. Is someone lining their pockets? The wolves must be protected.

We stand forever with you Makuye, brother Wolf. We will hold this place in our world, in our hearts, for you and your sisters, your ancestors, your children, forever. You have shown us many things - that we are One together, that we will persist with courage, that we will survive, and thrive. You are our prayer, and more: You are each the spirit , living and showing the right way to live. Each of you in Indian Country are this also, and this is why we are together here. I say this: I will walk together with You, and with the Wolf, and with this sacred Earth. Say this with me. Thank you, you Great Spirits.
