This is an age old debate. The dialogue never seems to end with any resolution. Seems rather disingenuous to say that Natives are a nation and should have nation to nation recognition and status, only to have to have these same dialogues with the states every time a Native nation wants to do something contrary to state statute. It depressing enough to have to appeal to the United Nations to get formal recognition that a Treaty signed by the U.S. government is not being honored. At some point in time the dialogue needs to stop and an agreement of deliberate indifference must be affirmed. It's unconscionable to see the degree with which this mean spirited continues.
