My husband and I just made a trip out the the southwest and observed that the young women today, whether native or not seem to generally lack self respect. This is observed from our viewpoint in seeing people come out in public in their pajama bottoms, hair not brushed even, forget anything about makeup, whoever thinks they have to wear all that to be presentable bases their belief on a false one. Makeup is not natural, but to be clean and presentable is a sign of self respect, plainly. This idea spills over to behavior. Is it really a sign of self respect to be so loud in a public place that every stranger knows your innermost thoughts and desires? I think not. Thinking before speaking is still valuable advice I received from my father more than 40 years ago and advice that serves me well. Seems people in general have a desire to be noticed by others in a flamboyant way instead of a civil way. Think about what self respect really means.
