Love it! But guns in the home are NOT 12 times more likely to kill someone in the home than to kill an intruder--it's three-and-a-half TIMES that rate! For every case of self-protection involving a firearm kept in the home, there are 1.3 accidental deaths, 4.6 criminal homicides, and 37 suicides involving firearms (N Engl J Med. 1986 Jun 12;314(24):1557-60). A gun is 43 times more likely to be used to commit homicide, suicide or accidentally kill someone than it is to protect a family from crime.
