We don't need a reservation in Vermont in order to have a "homeland". Our native ancestors have lived in this territory for almost ten thousand years. We know we belong here, even if some of the non-native population feels that we don't, just because they've been here for a couple of hundred years. The Creator put us here. This was the Creator's choice to put us here for so long. There must be a reason for it. I hope our Mainstream Brothers and Sisters will come to realize this one day, and know that we are not against them, just because we are still here, and just because we choose to identify ourselves as we are, the Metis, the Wabanaki. Hopefully, over time we can build bridges of understanding, instead of the fear and intolerance that sometimes still happens. We are all one human family. How much better it will be for all of us when we can embrace our common humanity, rather than the differences in where our ancestors originated. Blessings.
