I couldn't agree more with this article. I remember a time when the only technology i had was VCRS and tape players. I grew up playing outside and participating in school sports. Its seems the young crowd these days are going the wrong direction, always on the computer and never being active. Everybody finds sites like Facebook and Google to be a necessity in life. Nobody wants to think about the possible negative outcome that can come of singularity. Most would rather stay oblivious to the negative things occurring around the world and live in happy bliss. As long as we all have our material wants and our comfort we seem to forget about everybody else in the world and the way we are treating our planet. Its horrible... While we can't control natural disasters, we have potential to improve our chances of survival in the future with green energy. Animals are going extinct and fossil fuels are depleting. No one wants to worry about it now, but it will happen eventually if we don't change our ways while we can or make an attempt to help the earth heal. I never realized these problems until i watched the "Earth" documentary on Google last summer. We have to remember that we live on the earth, it doesn't revolve around our wants and needs. At our rate of consumption the outlook isn't good. On top of that its nice to have technology but we shouldn't completely depend on it. I really hope more of us can be"awakened" on these issues before its too late.
