Thank you for this article. My husband and I came to the Red Road and the Sundance Ways in the late 90s. He was a Vietnam Vet and had lost his spirituality in country. He, too, drank to self-medicate and I prayed for years that he would find something he could believe in again. We met a family outside of Martin one hot summer day that June whose vehicle had broken down. We stopped, took them home east of Allen and in less than 2 weeks he was in the circle, at the tree, and on his way to a faith and sobriety that stayed with him until he passed away this past February. Ceremony and a loving family saved both of us and set us on a path we never regretted.
