I see where this pipeline route was a source of contention. It appear's that the State Department didn't notify the Tribal Nation's of the proposed route through their lands. It was the Tribal people's right to protest. However; for Winona LaDuke to voice her pleasure at this victory is HYPOCRITICAL. She worked on receiving grants from CITGO OIL for heating purpose's for six of the Minnesota Ojibwa Reservation's. Citgo Oil is run by Hugo Chavez. Perhaps; we need to inform ourselves through Amnesty International about Venezuela's Human Right's record. Ms. Laduke believe's OIL is evil. Why in the past is she receiving an oil related subsidy from a country that profits from oil? Not only that; but doesn't take care of it's own people. It doesn't allow individual freedom for it's own people to protest against Chavez. What's the difference between the poverty and conditions of an Indian Reservation and Venezuela? What's the difference the behavior of a dictator like Chavez and Tribal Councils in America? Is Laduke's blind idealism of energy blinded her to the realites of life in Indian Country.
