A 2011 Pow Wow Retrospective Via the Incredible Portraits of Diego James Robles: Part VI
We're winding down our coverage of the incredible pow wow portraits by photographer Diego James Robles, who is currently living and working in the heart of the Navajo Nation. Diego is there completing a grant from the Alexia Foundation, which promotes the power of photojournalism to "give voice to social injustice, to respect history lest we forget it and to understand cultural difference as our strength—not our weakness. Diego's been doing just that, spreading light, both literal and figurative, on the beautiful history of the Navajo people in these stunning portraits.
This week's retrospective are portraits Diego took during the Spirit Lives On Powwow, on Saturday, June 11, in Sanostee, Navajo Nation. It was yet another a great opportunity for Diego to showcase his immense talents, with the dancers providing beauty enough to make every shot look great.
We've been showcasing a series of different pow wows Diego attended and shot his beautiful portraits, and are looking forward to what Diego does next with his incredible camera. Join us in celebrating the varied, vibrant, and incredibly vital culture that's made so gorgeously accessible in these stunning shots. And please, if you've got pow wow photos from this past year that you'd like us to highlight, don't hesitate in sending us an email with your photos attached at firstname.lastname@example.org
