ABOUT THE SUBJECT: Chelsey Luger (Turtle Mountain Chippewa and Standing Rock Sioux, daughter of Donna Brown and Jody Luger) is passionate about promoting health and fitness in Native American communities. Chelsey graduated from Dartmouth College and has her master's degree in Broadcast Journalism from Columbia University, and she is now working as a video journalist for "Now This News". Chelsey incorporates her culture and heritage into everything she does professionally, academically, and with fitness. Chelsey says that most of her strength, physically and mentally, comes from her culture, and believes that all Native youth have the ability to tap into this mentality to lead healthier, more balanced, and happier lives. 

ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER: Thosh Collins (Pima/Osage/Seneca/Cayuga) is a contributor to The Thing About Skins.  Thosh is an award-winning photographer and fitness enthusiast from Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community and a board member of the Native Wellness Institute. He studies Indigenous principles of health, well-being and nutrition and puts them into a modern-day context in a discipline called "Hybridized Indigenous Wellness." Good to see our native people pushing health with our own people. I get tired of seeing other races telling native people how to be when we have our own people able to show us how to be as human beings.

Nice goal to shoot for. Keep in mind many Native people have yet much to overcome before they can arrive at the point in life where the fortunate young people mentioned above are at. History has a had great affect on many Natives and consider they will always do the best they can even though in some peoples minds it might not be enough. My perspective.
