Heroes Till the End: Code Talkers in Their Twilight Years
Code Talkers are renknowned as heroes of World War 2 who used their language to confound the Japanese. Since they were not permitted to speak of the part they played, their stories did not come to the fore immediately. In the past few years, though, some memoirs and other accounts have surfaced. With many Code Talkers walking on in the past year, the book Code Talker Stories, written by Code Talker daughter Laura Tohe, is illustrated with photos of these heroes from their elder years. The moving photographs lend a poignant backdrop as they pose, and tell their tales, one last time. All photos by Deborah O'Grady.
