New Native Photography in Santa Fe
"New Native Photography 2011" opens Friday, August 12, at the New Mexico Museum of Art in Santa Fe. The show features over 15 photographers giving what the museum describes as "a fresh expression of Native experience."
“The exhibition offers just a small taste of the tremendous breadth of imagination and skill characteristic of Native artists working in photography today,” said Katherine Ware, the museum's photography curator, in a statement. “It is a great pleasure to see recent work by established figures as well as newcomers, and we are excited about showing these photographs to our wide range of visitors during the busy summer season in Santa Fe.”
The exhibition is a collaboration with the Southwestern Association for Indian Arts (SWAIA), and is in conjunction with the 90th Santa Fe Indian Market. For more information, visit NMArtMuseum.org.
