Photo Gallery: Pageantry and Controversy for Ashley Callingbull at Miss World Canada
Last weekend, Ashley Callingbull of the Enoch Cree Nation participated in the 2012 Miss World Canada competition. Though she did not win, she turned in her usual impressive performance.
On Tuesday, she posted some frank comments about the competition on her Facebook fan page:
I'm happy that I did my best. I was told I was a standout.. But there are some things out of your control. Everyone knew what the outcome of this pageant was going to be ahead of time, but I kept silent because I hoped for a fair game. You can't beat a girl who is best friends with all the judges. She didn't even have high enough scores to be in top 10. I apparently had the highest score overall. Hmmm Pageants are so political, but I got better things ahead of me.. I'm just so thankful I did well and my family was here.
Stay tuned, we'll have an exclusive interview with Callingbull in which we'll get more of the scoop on her Miss World Canada week and her other projects, including the popular TV drama Blackstone.
