San Carlos Apache Tribe Member Signs With Division I Football Team
Bearpaw Mosley, a member of the San Carlos Apache tribe (Assiniboine/Paiuite) flanked by his mother, Mary Kim Titla, and Shawn Aguano, head coach of Chandler High School’s football team recently signed a National Letter of Commitment to play football for Northern Arizona University (NAU).
Mosley, a 6'5" 220 lbs defensive end, played at San Carlos High School before transferring to Chandler High in his junior year.
Jerome Souers, NAU’s head coach, is a member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe, and is the only Native American Division I coach. According to sources, Mosley is believed to be the first San Carlos Apache to play college football at the Division I level, and the only member among a handful of Native Americans in Arizona to play for a major university.
Mosley is the son of Mary Kim Titla, San Carlos Apache, and John Mosley, Assiniboine/Paiute.
