The San Francisco Peaks: A Photo Gallery
The San Francisco Peaks are a volcanic mountain range located north of Flagstaff, Arizona, and are sacred to the Havasupai, Navajo, Hopi, Zuni, and several other tribes.
On Thursday, a federal appeals court gave an Arizona ski resort operating on federal land permission to use recycled sewage to make artificial snow on Humphrey’s Peak—the highest and the most sacred of the San Francisco Peaks.
