See You in Santa Fe! Scenes From Santa Fe Indian Market 2011
The 91st Santa Fe Indian Market is here! The massive bazaar of Native crafts and fine art saturates downtown Santa Fe on August 18 and 19, with more than 600 booths occupying 14 blocks. But Indian Market is about much more than shopping the staggering selection of bling and swag. The festivities and delights in the days leading up to the weekend, known as Santa Fe Indian Market Week, include screenings at the Native Cinema Showcase, readings at Collected Works Bookstore, performances by dancers and musicians, and the fourth annual Skateploitation! skateboarding contest organized by Apache Skateboards. Highlights of the weekend itself always include Saturday night’s Live Auction Gala and Sunday’s Native American Clothing Contest. If you’re lucky enough to be there—enjoy it. And if not, dig these scenes from the 2011 fest, and book a reservation for 2013!
