Confederated Salish & Kootenai Tribes, Montana
PABLO, Mont. (AP) - An Arlee man arrested last week for allegedly threatening tribal council members of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes was released on $5,000 bond. Francis Lavern Pierre, 44, turned himself in to tribal police Oct. 4. Pierre was charged with intimidation after threatening to harm council members at a quarterly meeting. The meeting was postponed indefinitely and not immediately rescheduled. Court records show Pierre, a tribal member, has had previous disagreements with tribal officials because he believes the tribes should equip his home site with utility service. A judge set Pierre's trial for Dec. 21.
