The Interior Department will ask tribes to determine the proper level of participation for Alaska Native corporations hoping to be part of government talks initiated by President Obama last year. Mike Smith, a deputy director at BIA, also said he wants answers on why the North Pacific Fishery Management Council lacks seats designated for tribal representatives.
