More Southern CA Solar Projects Contested in Court
A Native American group has filed suit against the federal government in U.S. District Court in San Diego in an effort to halt six solar power plants in the deserts of Southern California.
The La Cuna de Aztlan Sacred Sites Protection Circle Advisory Committee, the nonprofit organization Californians for Renewable energy, and five individuals claim that the U.S. Department of the Interior and the Bureau of Land Management skirted numerous laws related to indigenous approval when they approved rights of way to allow construction.
It comes right on the heels of a motion granted by a judge in the same court in favor of the Quechan Tribe of the Fort Yuma Indian Reservation to block the Imperial Valley solar plant east of San Diego, the Solar Home & Business Journal reported.
