Oneida Nation Names Former Microsoft and Las Vegas Resorts Executive as its Vice President for Technology

Oneida Nation Enterprises has selected a Las Vegas information technology veteran as its new vice president for technology.

Steve Murphy will oversee the development and performance of all of the Oneida Nation’s information technology, including Turning Stone Resort Casino and SavOn Convenience Stores, and oversee the I.T. department.

Murphy started work at the Oneida Nation on December 28, 2012.

His resume includes positions as the chief information officer, vice president for information technology and similar positions at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, MGM Mirage and Hyatt Gaming, among others. Murphy most recently served as an executive strategy consultant for Microsoft Corporation.

Murphy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Hawaii Pacific University and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Webster University.

“I am very excited to be joining the Oneida Nation where its Turning Stone Resort Casino has such an outstanding reputation in the industry. In my short time thus far, I have been extremely impressed by the level of expertise and customer focus shown by its team,” Murphy said in a press release about joining Oneida Nation Enterprises. “I am looking forward to working on ways to enhance the customer experience, both at Turning Stone and at the Nation’s other diverse businesses, in support of the Oneida Nation members.”

Oneida Nation Enterprises encompass Turning Stone Resort Casino, SavOn Convenience Stores, Four Directions Productions, Indian Country Today Media Network, car care and marina operations. It is one of the largest employers in Central New York, with more than 4,500 workers.
