On Wednesday, April 24, Red Lake members will band together against sexual violence in a walk sponsored by Equay Wiigamig, the women's shelter on the reservation, and funded by the Minnesota Office of Justice Programs.

The "Protect Your Spirit Stand Against Violence Walk," will begin a walk at the junction of Hwy 89 and 1 and end at Seven Clans Casino and Events Center at Red Lake. Registration and an opening prayer begin at 9:30 with the walk starting at 10 a.m.

At noon, guest speaker Comanche Fairbanks will deliver a keynote address entitled "Male Perspective on Sexual Violence."

Afterward, "Tribal and National Sexual Assault Statistics" will be presented, which will be followed by an "open mic," and door prizes.

The walk is open to everyone; transportation may be provided to and from the event.
