Goshen News Editorial: Replacing Indian Mascot Statue Right Thing to Do

Yesterday, Indiana's Goshen High reversed a decision to temporarily remove a wooden American Indian mascot statue from its gym for graduation.

Today, June 5, the community's newspaper, The Goshen News, published an editorial supporting the removal of the statue and "Redskins" mascot name.

"Sometimes it is tough to do the right thing. And sometimes the right thing has to be done at the right time to achieve lasting change," writes the newspaper's editors. "That’s how we feel about the removal, and now the replacement of, the Native American Indian statue in the Goshen High School gymnasium.
