Listen to Navajo Code Talker Chester Nez's Memoir on 'Radio Reader'

June 26, 2013

Until July 10, Dick Estell's popular and historic The Radio Reader program will be presenting the memoir of Navajo Code Talker Chester Nez, Code Talker. The next broadcast is tonight at 7:30 p.m./ET, and airs on public radio stations. Internet streaming options are also available. For listings information, click here.

Nez, who is the last surviving member of the Original 29 Navajo Code Talkers, published a memoir of his service with the U.S. Marine Corps in the Pacific Theater during World War II in 2011. The Japanese were never able to crack the code the Navajo created from their native language, turning the tide in the Pacific. For more information about the book, click here.
