Vote Schimmel for 2013 Best Upset ESPY Award!

July 01, 2013

The Schimmel Sisters, Umatilla, and the University of Louisville women's baseketball team are up for a 2013 ESPY Award: Best Upset. In what has been called one of the biggest upsets in history, the Cardinals knocked out the top-seeded Baylor Lady Bears in the Sweet Sixteen of the 2013 NCAA women's basketball tournament.  The ESPY Awards are presented annually by ESPN for outstanding athletic achievement.

Led by all-world Brittney Griner, Baylor entered the game having won its last 32 games and was a prohibitive 24-point favorite over the Cardinals. But led by Shoni and Jude Schimmel, Louisville pulled off the huge upset, 82-81. And now you can vote for this game as Best Upset!

The stiff competition for this ESPY includes tiny Florida Gulf Coast beating powerhouse Georgetown in the 2013 NCAA men's hoops tournament; Juan Manuel Marquez knocking out Manny Pacquiao in a thriller, his first victory in four tries; and Texas A&M handing Alabama its only loss in another football championship season.

To vote, go to Balloting closes at 9 p.m./ET on July 17, and the awards will be presented that same night in a gala event hosted by Jon Hamm airing on ESPN.
