Joe Baker hits three-point shot from behind halfcourt

Buzzer Beater Lands High Schooler in No. 1 Spot on ESPN's SportsCenter

Call him the buzzer-beater. High school senior guard Joe Baker (Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation), who plays for the New Town Eagles in North Dakota, landed a three-point field goal that earned him the number one spot on Sportscenter’s Top 10 plays on Thursday.

New Town was playing Rugby in the North Dakota State Class B Boys Basketball Tournament when Baker hit the shot in the first quarter.

"When I shot it, I wasn’t expecting it to go in,” Baker told WDAZ-TV. “But after I put it up, it looked like it could go in. I’ve never made one from that far out before. I’ve made some from halfcourt. But never from that far."

Rugby ultimately defeated New Town in overtime, 64-58. See the video below.
