8 Twitter Responses From #NewRedskinsName Following Trademark Decision

Vincent Schilling

Within a few hours of announcing the Washington Redskins lost their trademarks at the U.S. Patent and Trademark office on the grounds that the name is disparaging – Twitter erupted with a hilarious hashtag #NewRedskinsName.

Thousands of tweeters gave it their best in the hopes that Dan Snyder might choose a new team name even though he has been quoted as saying he will NEVER change the name, or it would be changed “over his dead body.”

Here are some of the most retweeted and commented on contributions  – If you don’t see enough, believe it there are thousands more on Twitter.

The Vaders

I propose a change to the Orangeskins in reference to Speaker John Boehner. Note that this name is in no way derogatory or offensive and only honors Mr. Boehner.

Maybe you would like to make these available to the Navajo Reservation in AZ Red Mesa High School who's football team name is "REDSKINS"

The white skins? I like it. Sounds powerful and intelligent. I dont take it as an attack on white people, you know the ones you keep blaming for your lack of? Its never racist when you bad mouth white people, but when they tables are turned....

How about the Washington Dickheads? It sums up the prevalent state of mind in Washington and gives a quiet nod to all the racists who DIDN'T want the name changed.

To Catfish101: The Whiteskins STILL sounds racist to me, especially if you consider that the majority of the players DON'T have White skin.
