Roll Call! Meet Members of the 2014 Haskell University Football Team and Their New Coach
The Haskell University football team is getting ready for the first game of the 2014 season. On August 30, at 7:00p.m. the team will play Bethel College at home.
The Indians will kick off their season under the directin of Rich Brewer who was the assistant coach of the football team for 24 years.
“This is my Notre Dame,” Brewer told 6NewsLawrence.com. “I think the kids are going to feed off of my personalisty. So If I’m energetic, I think it will rub off on them.”
“I want to play fast … clear our minds, keep a free mind and just play football.”
“From the moment we walk out of the lockeroom with pads on, ‘til the moment we go back in, he’s always honest about staying upbeat and having enthusiasm in everything we do,” Maverik Lang said. about Coach Brewer.
The Indians are also focusing on wins this season. They hope to improve on last year's record, 2-7.
“I want to be healthy and close to 100 percent when August 28 rolls around,” Brewer said.
